Beth Williams of Easton was recently selected as the Community Organizer for Talbot Partnership for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention. Williams was hired to implement the Strategic Prevention Framework Grant addressing binge drinking for young adults, ages 18 to 25.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County and has completed graduate work in Health Science/Administration at Towson State University. She previously worked as a coordinator for addictions, underage drinking, and prevention in Howard County.
Prior to joining Talbot Partnership, Williams worked on the Alcohol Work Group revising the Talbot County Liquor Code, became a member of the Talbot County Department of Emergency Service Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and served as the original chairperson of the Talbot Partnership MSPF Community Coalition Grant and as a member of the Talbot County Council- Blue Ribbon Commission Oversight Committee.
According to Gary Pearce, Executive Director of Talbot Partnership, “Beth brings a wealth of experience and energy to this grant opportunity. She shares with us the importance of addressing the problem of binge drinking in our 18 to 25-year old population.”
In her new role, Williams hopes to implement strategies in the community to encourage responsible drinking. She comments, “I am excited and encouraged by my work with a local coalition of interested individuals who have adopted the name ‘Check Yourself Talbot.’ I look forward to helping to implement this innovative program in Talbot County.”
