When Andrew Dorbin of Preston, Maryland, a husband, father, and testicular cancer survivor, conceived the “Putts Fore! Nuts” miniature golf tournament to educate men about the risks and symptoms of testicular cancer, he never envisioned the success he would have in turning a serious health concern into a popular community event.
This year, the second annual “Putts Fore! Nuts” miniature golf tournament will be held on October 17, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Embers Island Mini-Golf in Ocean City, Maryland. The rain date will be October 24, 2025. A favorite last year, The Hole Hecklers – professional comedians who roast, hype, and heckle players in good fun – will return for this year’s event. Year two promises bigger prizes, more laughs, and brand new sponsorship opportunities for local partners.
Dorbin was diagnosed with late-stage testicular cancer (Choriocarcinoma) in the spring of 2023, which then metastasized to his lungs and abdomen. After several rounds of chemotherapy, he wanted to help others navigate their fight against testicular cancer, so he founded the Wayfinders Testicular Health Fund, a component fund of Chesapeake Charities, Inc., a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The fund is focused on raising awareness, providing education, and building a supportive community fighting this disease.
According to the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, 1 out of every 250 males will develop testicular cancer in their lifetime. If detected early, testicular cancer is over 95% curable. Dorbin hopes his educational outreach will encourage young men, ages 14 to 35, to challenge the stigmas and pay attention to their health.
Funds raised from the event will go towards community networking opportunities and mental health and wellness programs to ensure no one feels like they are facing the testicular cancer fight alone. Participants can expect to play two rounds of mini-golf at the event, all while challenging their knowledge, luck, and putting skills. Registration information for twosomes and foursomes and sponsorship opportunities are available at https://ccharities.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/list/event. The number of participants is limited, and registration is non-refundable. The rain date is October 24, 2026. For further information, contact Andrew Dorbin at wayfindersthf@gmail.com.
