The Avalon Announces Summer Camps

The Avalon Foundation is pleased to announce their 2010 lineup of summer camp programs for children. “We will be offering some tried and true programs, as well as some fun new performing arts experiences for the kids. I’m very excited about some of the changes. It’s going to be a busy summer at the theatre!” said Kate Levey, camp director. The always popular Curtain Call Acting Camp will be celebrating its 10th season at the Avalon this summer. Two sessions of Curtain Call will be offered in June.

Last summer, the Avalon Foundation’s MCTV launched its new TV production program, Lights! Camera! Action! The students had a great time learning the ins and outs of a working TV studio, and had some adventures shooting “on location” all around downtown Easton. In one week, they produced a show which still airs periodically on Channel 15. There will be two sessions of Lights! Camera! Action! offered this summer.

New this summer is Petite Players, a half-day introductory acting program for young children, entering grades K – 3.  FUN is the biggest part of the curriculum, along with acting, singing, poetry, and story telling. The children will put on a short recital at noon on the last day. There will be two sessions of Petite Players.

Finally, something new, but not so new… The Avalon Foundation is pleased to partner in offering SummerFame, an acting, singing, and dancing program for teens and pre-teens. SummerFame has been presented and supported for years by CAPA, the Community Alliance for the Performing Arts, which disbanded in 2009. While the program will now be offered through the Avalon Foundation, SummerFame’s excellent program format will remain unchanged. Pam Toll will continue as program director, and most of the instructional staff members will be returning this summer. SummerFame will continue to maintain its commitment to professional quality performance training. “I’m really happy that SummerFame will endure and keep its home at the Avalon. It’s a great program with an excellent reputation in this community.” said Toll. .There will be a two weeks long session of SummerFame for teens, and a one week session for pre-teens.
