The Cash Bash is Coming to Kent Island!

“It’s a lot of fun! Good food, plenty of ice cold beer and there’s a winner every two and a half minutes!” That’s all Lou Johnson, Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department ‘s  Cash Bash Chairman , had to say to get a group of about 100 locals to send a convoy to the Oakland volunteer fire department’s  yearly Mega Bash.

The premise behind the fundraiser is simple. Tickets are $100 (which includes a guest) and only 1000 are sold. The day of the event, numbers are drawn with a lottery ball machine every 2 ½ minutes. The prize for each drawing is predetermined and noted on the tickets and displayed on several large screens around the event area. Prizes range from $125 to the grand prize at the end of the day of $10,000!

The trip to Oakland was very successful for the KIVFD group. In the end there were many $125 winners, plus a few $500 and $1000 winners. Not to mention two 4 wheelers and an Entertainment package that included a 55” flat screen television. Then, at the end of the day, KIVFD member, Todd Kerchner, won the grand prize of $10,000!

According to KIVFD President, Jody Schulz, “The excitement was so contagious and the event such a success, we’ve decided to bring it home to Kent Island!”  Lou Johnson has been the driving force and visionary that convinced the department to get behind this fundraiser. You won’t want to miss this event!!
