Give Thanksgiving a healthy start at The Great Turkey Chase at Queenstown Harbor, Queenstown, Maryland, Thursday, November 22, 2012. Event includes a Five Mile Run and a Two Mile Run/Walk.
Before settling in for the parades, the football, the big meal, and the pies, why not gather for an appetite-boosting morning of good-natured competition with other runners, family, and friends. Start your Thanksgiving Day off at The Great Turkey Chase at Queenstown Harbor. It’s an event the whole family will enjoy, and one that we hope will become a Thanksgiving Day tradition in the years to come!
The Great Turkey Chase features a 5 mile run or a 2 mile run/walk on paved cart paths meandering through beautiful Queenstown Harbor, a public golf course just off Route 301 in Queenstown, Maryland. The Lakes Course and the River Course cover over 800 acres of pristine waterfront property, with an abundance of wildlife and gorgeous views of the Chester River.
The Great Turkey Chase is presented by the Kent Island Running Group (www.kirg.org) and The Brick Companies’ Queenstown Harbor (qhgolf.com). Festive turkey attire is encouraged. We even have a prize for the best male and female outfit! All participants receive a long sleeve souvenir shirt. Race begins at 8:00 a.m.; registration opens at 7:00 a.m. Register today at KIRG.ORG.
Most importantly, by participating in the Great Turkey Chase, you’ll also be giving “thanks” by helping the Maryland Food Bank. We’ll be collecting non-perishable food items on race day. We’ll need everyone to pitch in to help us reach our goal of 500 cans of food to help fill the Maryland Food Bank. The Maryland Food Bank facility distributes more than 24 million pounds of fresh and non-perishable food to hungry Marylanders each year. We have two ways to support the Food Bank: bring your canned goods to the race or make a monetary donation by visiting www.mdfoodbank.org/turkeychase
So before you baste, come on out and do The Chase!
