Don’t miss the 6th Annual Taste of Kent Narrows on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Chesapeake Bay Exploration Center in Chester, Maryland. Come on out and sample the culinary talents of the area’s finest restaurants and enjoy the waterfront views of the Eastern Shore. But it doesn’t stop there…this family event also features live entertainment, local wine tasting, arts and craft vendors, children’s activities, and much more. With over 1,000 people from Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania in attendance last year and increased popularity among the local community, we are expecting even more at this year’s event. Food tastings will be available from 12 noon until 4 pm with entertainment continuing until 5 pm.
“We had a fantastic time last year with a larger turnout than the year before. This is a wonderful event that gives us the freedom to showcase what we, as a restaurant, can do. It’s also a chance to give back to the community and raise money to help rebuild and revitalize areas that need it, especially in these times where everyone could use a helping hand. We look forward to doing our part and hope to see everyone back at the Taste of Kent Narrows this year,” says Chef Matt Cohey, The Narrows Restaurant.
Joe Pomerantz, Taste of Kent Narrows Chairman, added: “This joint effort of the Kent Narrows Development Foundation and Queen Anne’s County is made possible by the generosity of businesses throughout this community and beyond. Their enterprises have donated time, money, food, and personnel to help make this event a success. Proceeds from the event will be used by the Kent Narrows Development Foundation to maintain and enhance the Kent Narrows area, in accordance with the vision of the Kent Narrows Community Plan adopted in 2006.”
This annual event benefits the Kent Narrows Development Foundation which was created in 1990 to revitalize the Kent Narrows, a 955-acre waterfront area that has been indentified as an important asset to Queen Anne’s County. The Foundation’s mission is to provide guidance and oversight for the formulation of a strategy to balance new economic growth, community redevelopment, support for the County’s fishing and seafood industries, and public access to waterfront activities and amenities. The Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the area while preserving its unique character and history.
