Doug Benson is one of those comedians that’s finally reached that upper tier of comedic talent and recognition. He has his own documentary called Super High Me based on Morgan Spurlock’s hit documentary, Super Size Me. He was a finalist in the 2007 season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He was a series regular on four seasons of VH-1’s Best Week Ever. He makes recurring appearances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, and his second Comedy Central Presents half-hour special premiered in January ’09.
Bringing its Comedy at the Stoltz series to the main theater for the first time, the Avalon presents Doug Benson and his stand up comedy routine next Thursday evening, May 19th at 8pm. Tickets are still available for $20 and may be purchased at avalontheatre.com or by calling the box office at 410.822.7299.
Yes, Doug even had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston while guesting on the classic sitcom Friends, but its his character on The Sarah Silverman Program and guest spot on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm (where he puts Larry David in a headlock) that many fans remember most. And it turns out Benson’s 420-friendly shtick is pretty potent – he’s also the creator/writer/star of The Marijuana-Logues; a show that’s been a hit in clubs and theaters from Los Angeles to New York.
Now Doug has two CD’s out on Comedy Central Records – Unbalanced Load and Hypocritical Oaf, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart. He continues to express his love of movies on his “Doug Loves Movies” podcasts (available on iTunes) and, obviously, still performs his stand up routine when not appearing on hit television series.
