Third Annual Fundraiser Features Small Works

The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s third annual “Small Works: Exhibition and Raffle” is a unique fundraiser to this region. The quality of donated work received this year is once again spectacular. Porcelain, clay, oils, watercolors, jewelry, textiles, mixed media, and photography are on display and part of the raffle experience at Council’s Centre for the Arts from January 13 through February 18, 2012.

A number of activities are scheduled during the exhibition, including special classes, a pre and public art reception and also a gala drawing event with host Marcy Dunn Ramsey.

The festivities begin on Friday, January 13 with a pre-opening cocktail party and remarks by artist Nancy Hammond. The event, held at the Draper-Brice House, 112 South Liberty Street in Centreville , Maryland from 5 to 6 p.m. kicks off this important fundraiser. Guests will enjoy bubbly, sumptuous starters by Este’s Edibles and an opportunity to visit the historic Draper-Brice home. Advance tickets only $25 through January 10 and space is limited.

Following this event, the public is invited to a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Centre for the Arts in Centreville. Art lovers may purchase raffle tickets, choose their favorite works of art and put their raffle tickets in the box designated for each piece of work. Donations from regional and national artists and from private collections include 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional artworks. Raffle tickets will be drawn on February 18 at the Centre for the Arts during the final “Small Works” event, a gala with culinary treats courtesy of Palate Pleasers of Annapolis. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or $30 for 7 tickets and remain on sale through the closing of the exhibit.

A variety of classes are also being held during Small Works, including “Much Ado About Beer: History &Tasting” with Certified Brew Master Jack Ehmann on Friday, January 27; “Metal Clay Copper Pendant” with artist Janice Colvin on Saturday, February 4; “Simply Sushi” with Chef David Clark on Sunday, February 5; “Crumpton for Dummies” with Dillon Dixon of Dixon’s Auction on Monday, February 6; “Valentine Afternoon Tea” featuring Creative Memories consultant Cathy Downes on Saturday, February 11 and “Adventures in Bargello Needlepoint with artist Hallie Rogers Rugg on Wednesday, February 8.
