5097-5098_Americas-Cup-Yacht-Sailing-in-San-Francisco-MAIN (400 x 181)~Ultimate Sailing Experiences on America’s Cup Yacht USA 76 among Live Auction Items

Adkins Arboretum promises an enchanted evening Sat., Sept. 28 when it hosts the sixth annual Magic in the Meadow gala, a dazzling event to benefit the Arboretum’s education and conservation programs. As twilight falls, guests will mingle in the meadow surrounded by the Arboretum’s 400 acres of majestic native gardens, wetlands, forests and streams.

The evening will feature spectacular local fare prepared by Magnolia Caterers; wine and cocktails; and music by Chestertown band B Natural, featuring Pres Harding on guitar and a special appearance by the incomparable Joe Holt on piano.

Don’t miss the chance to bid on the ultimate sailing experience! Among the fabulous live auction items up for bid is the thrill of a lifetime—four days in San Francisco and an exhilarating 2.5-hour San Francisco Bay sail for two aboard the legendary America’s Cup racing yacht USA 76.

USA 76 was previously owned and raced by ORACLE Racing in the team’s challenge for the 2003 America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand. She lost to the Swiss team Alinghi, the 2003 America’s Cup winner, but won the Moet Cup rematch held on San Francisco Bay later that year.

The America’s Cup racing package is just one of the exciting items up for bid. Guests will also raise their paddles for a chance to win a Washington State cottage vacation with unparalleled view of Mt. Rainier, a luxurious getaway to the Fairmont Banff Springs, a private air tour of the Eastern Shore, and much more.

New this year at Magic in the Meadow is the “Best of Live” raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold, with the winner receiving their choice of 11 live auction items. Tickets are $100, and purchasers need not be present to win.

Recognizing the Arboretum’s important conservation mission, 27 corporate sponsors have lent their support to this year’s Magic in the Meadow, including lead sponsor CNB and media sponsors Spy Publications and Tidewater Trader.
