Towson Invitational 2013

It is time to think about the early spring at PBCC. That means the 15th annual Towson Invitational Intercollegiate Golf Tournament is fast approaching. Be sure to make time to come out and see the 26 team field playing the Prospect Bay course from March 30 – April 2, 2013. This year features the largest field in the seven year history that the event has been held at Prospect Bay Country Club.

Some of you will remember the 2007 medalist from St, John’s University, Keegan Bradley shot 2 under par to win the honors. Keegan has gone on to play on the PGA tour and has won 3 PGA events including the 2011 PGA Championship. Several other notable golfers who have turned professional after playing in the Towson Invitational include Billy Hurley III, (Navy), John Hahn, (Kent State) and Nyasha Mauchaza (Towson).

This year’s event will be sponsored by Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and will include teams from the following colleges and universities: Returning champions: Navy, Loyola, Seton Hall (2012) and Towson. Newcomers to the tournament include: Cleveland State, Iona, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Robert Morris and University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Returning from last year: Bethune Cookman, SUNY-Binghamton, Canisius, Central Connecticut, Colgate, St. Peter’s, William and Mary, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickenson, LIU, Longwood, Mt. St. Mary’s. Rutgers, Sienna and St. Bonaventure.

Invite your friends and come out to see this exciting event that showcases the talented golfers from these schools. You can get up close and personal by following your favorites as they take on the challenging 6,761 yard course from the tips.

Towson coach, Brian Yaniger has commented that Prospect Bay Country Club members have given the golfers a warm and friendly welcome in the seven years that the tournament has been held at this course. Show your support by coming out to watch some of the best golfers in the East.
