Trappe Day Care Operator Convicted of Murder

A day care provider has been convicted of second-degree murder in the death last year of an infant in her care. Fifty-three-year-old Gail Dobson of Trappe was found guilty in the death of 9-month-old Trevor Ulrich. Police were called to Dobson’s home last September 2 after she said the infant was having trouble breathing. He was taken to Children’s Hospital in Washington where he died the next day. The D.C. medical examiner ruled the child’s death a homicide, and police said the cause of death was inflicted head trauma, an injury associated with shaken baby syndrome. Dobson testified at the trial that she did not hurt or shake the child.
