Compass Regional Hospice (formerly Hospice of Queen Anne’s) is carrying on a holiday tradition by hosting the Tree of Lights candle lighting ceremony on Wednesday, December 3, 5:30 pm at Emmanuel Church, 1010 N. Cross Street in Chestertown. The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, honors family and friends at the holiday season.

Members of the community are invited to purchase a candle in memory of someone who has died and to honor someone still living.  The candles will be lit at the Tree of Lights ceremony. A $10 donation for each candle will be used by Compass Regional Hospice to provide hospice services and grief support for residents of Kent County.

At the Tree of Lights ceremony the names of those being honored will be read. Compass Regional Hospice social worker Bob Denison and grief counselor Anne O’Connor, who have provided hospice and grief support in Kent County for decades, will participate in the ceremony. Guests will enjoy music and light refreshments.

“This is our first holiday season serving the community in Kent County,” says Heather Guerieri, executive director, Compass Regional Hospice. “We invite supporters of hospice and anyone who wants to honor a loved one to join us for this special time of remembrance.”
