For only one more week, through November 7, Troika Gallery presents a featured show of exciting new works by Baltimore artist, Matt Zoll. Using Old Masters’ techniques, Zoll achieves extraordinary realism in his paintings, characterized by remarkable color and vibrancy. Don’t miss the last chance to see this stunning show during Easton’s First Friday Gallery Walk, November 2.
Also on November 2 from 5-6:30 pm, Troika Gallery will host a book signing by Ernest J. Heinmuller, author of A Different Reading. Heinmuller is a painter who also writes poetry.
A Different Reading addresses Biblical subjects from Genesis to St. John. In the book’s prologue, the Rev. Dr. William Ortt writes that Heinmuller “invites us on a journey down a more dangerous path away from the comfort of unquestioned presumptions. Ernie has chosen poetry as the form of expression for the same reason as many poets before him. For poets like Rilke and Shakespeare, and more modern poets Billy Collins and Mary Oliver, poetry was a broader brush which to express themes from the Bible.”
Concerning the connection between art and poetry, Heinmuller says, “Poetry is the second truth about the first truth. Therefore it is an abstract word form of art. For example, if you say it is blue and I say it is azure, we are saying two different things about the color.”
Troika Gallery is open each month during First Friday Gallery Walk from 5-8:30 pm. Light refreshments are served.
Troika Gallery will open its 15th Anniversary Gala Group Show on Friday, November 9 during Easton’s famous Waterfowl Festival. This is a rare opportunity to see new original works by all 34 of the gallery’s renowned artists. Meet many of the artists at a Gala Champagne Opening Reception on November 9 from 5-9pm. The show runs through December 31.
Troika Gallery is located at 9 S. Harrison Street (catty-corner to the Tidewater Inn). Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5:30pm, and Sunday by appointment.
