Two Exhibits Open At RiverArts on First Friday

Chestertown RiverArts and the Chester River Association have partnered to bring the November exhibit to RiverArts, “The Living River”. The theme of the show is the River, but artists were encouraged to look at the River (any river or its tributaries and marshes) as more than just a pretty view. There is a broad range of media used to demonstrate the idea of the living, moving, breathing entity. Works range from abstract to representational each communicating a very personal view of the relationship that the artist shares with the river and what it means to them. This show will be in the Main Gallery through November 30.. The opening reception for the Living River is First Friday, November 1 from 5:00-8:00.

In the Studio Gallery is the “Studio Tour Show”. Sixty artists are on the Studio Tour and most have samples of their work on display. Those going on the tour are encouraged to stop by RiverArts to see the work and plan their itineraries. There is truly a broad range of media including painting, pottery, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, textiles, metal, glass and wood art, and furniture. This show will also open November 1 and will run through November 17th.

Coming into the Studio Gallery on November 23 is the first part of the “Holiday Show and Sale” which will expand into the Main Gallery in December. There will be a vast array of items that make great holiday gifts at very reasonable prices. In addition to the usual favorites – jewelry, woven scarves, knitted wear, cutting boards, and pottery – there has been a call out to member artists to expand the offerings for other popular and/or needed gift items such as lots of inexpensive stocking stuffers and tree and window ornaments, gifts for men, gifts for babies and toddlers, and household items.

RiverArts Gallery and Gift Shop are located at 315 High Street, Suite 106. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 11:00-4:00, First Friday 11:00-8:00, Saturday 9:30-4:00, and Sunday noon-3:00. For more information on RiverArts go to www.chestertownriverarts.org.
