Centreville, MD – Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) is proud to announce that two of its outstanding educators, Kesley Fitzgerald of Sudlersville Middle School and Scotta Murdoch of Queen Anne’s County High School, have been selected as recipients of the 2025 Simon McNeely Award by SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) Maryland. 

This distinguished award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exemplary teaching and service in the fields of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, or Dance. Recipients are honored for their innovative approaches, active participation in professional organizations, involvement in school and community initiatives, and a minimum of five years of professional experience in their respective fields.

These two educators represent the very best of what we hope to see in physical and health education. They are passionate about their work and are committed to community well-being,” said Michael Page, QACPS Supervisor of Curriculum for Physical Education and Health. “Their recognition by SHAPE Maryland is evidence of their hard work and leadership.”

Mrs. Fitzgerald and Ms. Murdoch will be formally recognized at the SHAPE Maryland Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 15, 2025. SHAPE Maryland is the state’s professional organization dedicated to supporting and advancing health, physical education, recreation, and dance.
