University of Maryland Shore Regional Health and its affiliate University of Maryland Shore Medical Group recently welcomed a new general surgeon to its team at University of Maryland Shore Surgical Care.  Andrew J. Pelczar, MD is joining Dr. Hugo Bonatti, Dr. Aboubakr Khairat and Susan Ondrushek, Physician Assistant,  at the UM Shore Surgical Care practice, located at 503 B Dutchman’s Lane in Easton.

Dr. Pelczar, a native of Kent County, obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the United States Naval Academy and earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine He completed a surgical internship and a general surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia.  Dr. Pelczar has an extensive military background, having practiced general surgery in the United States and abroad during deployments to the Persian Gulf, Somalia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Afghanistan.    Prior to joining UM Shore Surgical Care, he was a member of the Department of Surgery at Naval Hospital Bremerton in Bremerton, Washington.  Dr. Pelczar is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
