A variety of art and craft classes for all ages are coming up at “my little studio & island arts” in downtown Stevensville. Our classes are always fun, non-intimidating, and of course educational! Knot Just For Pearls –  Monday, October 24th 11:00 – 1:00
Beginners will learn the basics of knotting while creating a trendy necklace that sparkles with crystals, seed beads and metallic thread!
Level: Beginner

Bring an assortment of crystals, big eye needle, metallic thread of your choice and a clasp.

Simple Jewelry – Thursday, October 27th 1:00 – 2:30
Have fun using beads, wire and findings to design and create a pair of earrings and a bracelet to take home with you. Simple techniques and the use of the appropriate jewelry tools will be covered.

Cost: $25 (includes materials and use of tools)

Copper Clay Basics – Saturday, November 5th 9:30 – 2:00
From clay to metal in one day. Learn a new way of creating a solid copper element that can be worked into a piece of jewelry or within other art forms. No metalsmithing or other artist background is needed. Students will complete at least one item to take home, with firing done in class. Ages 16 and up.
Minimum of 3 students and maximum of 5

Cost: $45 (includes clay and use of necessary tools)
Bring small objects for texturing or mold making: shells, bark or buttons.
Bring a bag lunch.

Wine Glass Painting – Friday evening, November 11th 7:30 – 9:00
Paint a wine glass or two using special paints and techniques that you’ll learn.  Receive instructions for making the design permanent once you get home. Enjoy a glass of wine, too!

Cost: $15, plus $5 per glass

Tree of Life Pendant  – Thursday evening, November 10th 6:00 – 8:00
Using about 40 3-4mm beads and copper wire, students will create a stunning pendant that celebrates mother earth! Students will also learn to patina using liver of sulpher. You can also use chips. Gemstones and glass work best.
A great project for the fall!

Folk Art Painting – Monday, November 14th 1:00 – 3:00
Learn the basic brushstrokes and techniques used in the folk art style of painting. Apply what you learn to a project that you will be able to take home with you.

Kids’ Beading – Saturday, November 19th 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Learn basic stringing and design techniques and leave class with either a necklace or a bracelet! Class size is limited to 10 students.

Illusion Necklace – Thursday evening, December 1st  6:00 – 8:00
Get ready for the holidays with this wonderfully unique and elegant necklace!
The best part is that you can use all your mismatched beads!
Bring assorted beads, pearls and crystals not larger than 8mm, and a clasp. Illusion cord provided.

Tribal Bangle Bracelets – Saturday, December 10th, 10:00 – 2:00
Make a faux bone, ivory or wood tribal pattern bracelet with easy to use oven baked clay and simple tools. Texture and embellish your work with glass or metal beads, wire, small shells or stones. Once cured in the oven, bracelets may be sanded, painted with acrylic paint and polished with soft cloth to achieve an antiqued or ancient weathered look. The resulting bracelets are lightweight and beautiful. Ages 14 and up.

Kids’ Drawing Class – Satudays 11 a.m. – noon
For ages 5 – 12
Instructed by Joan McWilliams
A drawing class just for kids! Learn the fundamentals of drawing, including line, shape, value, perspective, shading techniques, and more. This class is meant to be a fun learning experience, providing inspiration to those children who already love art, and those who want to give it a try. A variety of drawing mediums and materials will be introduced.
Cost: $15 per session. All materials supplied by the instructor.

Painting – Wednesdays noon – 3:00
Instructor: M. Bannon
Receive excellent painting instruction from this accomplished artist and certified educator. Beginners and experienced painters welcome.

Quilting – Wednesdays 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Instructor: Marilyn AstonCome quilt with us every Wednesday. Students bring a project of their choosing to work on and get excellent instruction and/or guidance from Marilyn.
