Mosaic Camp with Jen Wagner
On four successive days, July 23 – 26, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Jen Wagner will offer a mosaic camp for children aged 8 and up. This program is sponsored in part by the Talbot County Arts Council, with funds from the Talbot County Council. “The Hunger Games” To Be Discussed at Library
On Monday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, “The library guy,” Bill Peak, will host a discussion of Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games.” Though marketed as a teen book, “The Hunger Games” has proven immensely popular with adults as well. For this reason, the library’s discussion will be open to adult patrons as well as children 12 and older. “I look forward,” Peak said, “to learning what the different generations have to say about this fascinating, disturbing, captivating work.” All library programs are free and open to the public, but patrons are asked to pre-register for this program. Dr. Jim Rybacki to Talk About Prescription Drugs at Library
On Thursday, July 26, at 6:00 p.m., in the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library, Dr. Jim Rybacki, author of The Essential Guide to Prescription Drugs series, will share his views on the twelve top medicines of 2012. Rybacki will talk about aspirin, Plavix, Lexapro, Nexium, cholesterol lowering medicines, Insulins, a new melanoma drug, a blood thinner, and a widely used high blood pressure medicine. He will also discuss some of the surprising uses developed for Botox.
President of the Medicine Information Institute, Rybacki has worked with the American Heart Association to help forge national tool kits and guideline driven practice. He joined the National Advisory Council of Mended Hearts in 2005 and subsequently published Medicines and Your Family. His on-line, consumer-oriented “Good News and New Medicines” has enjoyed more than 90,000 visits. Dr. Rybacki is widely consulted in cardiovascular medicine, adherence and inpatient to outpatient continuity.
