Voice Lessons With Georgiann Gibson

In the spring of 2012, the Queen Anne’s County Art Council’s Centre for the Arts invited Georgian Gibson to join our roster of talented instructors. Now a year later, she continues to offer her skills to students of all levels interested in learning to sing. Serious students learn to advance to their desired singing level, while aspiring singers learn the basic building blocks for having a strong and reliable vocal instrument. Techniques for strong vocal development are at the center of the lessons with an emphasis on correct diaphragmatic breathing and support, proper tone production, diction and musical interpretation and presentation. Instruction is in accordance with age and experience. Classes are four week, one-half-hour private sessions booked on a first-come first served basis from 5 to 7 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 8. Ages 13 and up. $140 for Arts Council members and $155 for nonmembers. The deadline for registration is April 2.

Gibson was soloist for the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, a European folk ensemble. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States as a vocal talent and was a member of the Pittsburgh Opera Chorus and the Mendelssohn Choir. She was winner of the Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Annual Competition. She has performed in numerous recitals as well as a soloist for churches and has a special fondness for mentoring vocal students.

Centre for the Arts classes are designed to renew existing artistic interests and develop new skills.
