On Sunday, October 5 (from 11 am to 2 pm) Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville will host its second Volunteer Fair for the public.  This event will allow community members to familiarize themselves with some wonderful local service organizations and to explore volunteer opportunities by talking with representatives in a casual atmosphere.  The Fair will be open to the public, and there is no cost for participating organizations or for members of the public to attend.

Sixteen local service organizations will participate in this event, representing the diversity of volunteer opportunities in our Mid-Shore area, including social services, animal welfare, nature and ecology and the arts.  Participating organizations include:

  • Chesapeake Bay Enviro. Center
  • Talisman Therapeutic Riding
  • Hospice of Queen Anne’s
  • Character Counts of QAC
  • Kent Island Federation of Arts
  • AAMC Auxiliary
  • Animal Welfare League QAC
  • YMCA of the Chesapeake
  • Our Haven Shelter
  • Adkins Arboretum
  • QAC Free Library (Literacy & Story Time)
  • Crossroads Community, Inc.
  • Chesterwye Center
  • Community Mediation Upper Shore
  • Queen Anne’s County Arts Council
  • Grasonville Food Bank

These organizations will have displays, handouts and other materials to help people understand what they do and how volunteers help them accomplish their missions.  The goal of the Volunteer Fair is to help interested citizens match their time, energy and talents with the needs of worthy service organizations.  Light refreshments will be available along with a few door prizes just to liven things up a bit.
