Karla is a dynamo when it comes to volunteering for the community. As a Talbot County 4-H volunteer, she is leader of the 4-H Saddle & Paws Club focusing on horses and small pets. While she participates in 4-H publicity and planning of club activities, her greatest joy comes from working directly with the kids and encouraging them and providing whatever they need to complete a project or gain a new skill. Karla’s other community work has included volunteering with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, leading a Junior Troop for the past five years and participating in summer camp for three years. White Marsh Elementary School has also benefitted from Karla’s input as she is the PTO president, a RISE reading program volunteer and a homeroom mom. Her helping hand has also been extended to St. Mark’s Sunday school program as well as to the Talbot Hospice House where she sometimes makes dinner for residents or takes part in the Festival of Trees.

Identifying needs and encouraging others to volunteer comes naturally to Karla. Over the years she has acted as an organizer and coordinator for both the Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS and the Lacaze Meredith Real Estate office.

Talbot County 4H Clubs
4-H in Talbot County is coordinated through the University of Maryland’s youth development program, and teaches youth through hands-on “learn by doing” activities that encourage kids and teens to experiment, innovate, and think independently.
