The Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County is looking for a few good men and women to expand their Auxiliary Deputy Unit.
This program is strictly a non-paid volunteer position and requires a commitment of 16 hours monthly, mainly on the weekends.
Auxiliary Deputies have no arrest or police powers, but are involved in many of the same assignments as paid deputies. Uniforms and equipment are provided at no cost.
The major responsibilities of the Auxiliary Deputies are: crowd control at events, conduct traffic surveys, traffic control, mobilizes speed trailers, checkpoints, and a host of other duties.
This is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of Law Enforcement work from behind the scenes and possibly expand into a full time paid law enforcement career.
All applicants must be drug free, have no criminal record, have a good driving record, possess a high school diploma or GED , and be able to pass an extensive background check
