A 43-year-old Rock Hall waterman must appear at Kent County District Court on February 18th and March 18th after being charged with allegedly stealing oysters twice in one week. Authorities say officials suspended the license for William H. Beck, who has many poaching convictions, for the remainder of the season. It is the first time the Department of Natural Resources has enforced that penalty as the department police monitor Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries to discourage oyster violations and use new methods to track commercial activities. Officials say authorities charged Beck with harvesting seven bushels of oysters on December 26th and dredging seven bushels of oysters from a prohibited area January 1st.
