Where Luxury Meets Affordability in St. Michaels

By Sandra Zunino

Who needs to spend a fortune on airfare, not to mention a long flight traveling to exotic locations when Bob Pascal’s St. Michaels Harbour Inn, Marina & Spa provides luxury resort accommodations in a picturesque nautical town for a fraction of the cost?

Owned by Robert “Bob” Pascal, this three-star, three-diamond resort is one of the best-kept secrets in the area. Offering full-service waterfront accommodations, Harbour Inn has 46 rooms, 38 of which are luxurious suites, many with Jacuzzi tubs and all with pristine views of the Miles River and St. Michaels Harbour. Harbour Inn’s 52-slip transient marina offers luxurious and modern facilities to boaters as well.

Built in the 80s, the resort has evolved over the years including the addition of a full-service spa in 2004. This relaxing retreat has six luxurious private rejuvenation rooms where treatments include deep-tissue massage, Swedish massage, hot stone therapy, Reiki, Reflexology, body polishes, body wraps, facials, manicures, pedicures and more. Separate men’s and women’s locker and shower facilities include European six-jet showers with rainwater showerheads and steam rooms. Spa patrons are not required to be guests of the Inn, so that rejuvenation appointment is just a phone call away.

With all these amenities, it’s no wonder Harbour Inn is the perfect location for corporate retreats. Not only does the nearby Chesapeake Bay offer great opportunities for team-building activities, Harbour Inn provides excellent banquet, meeting and conference facilities including audio and visual aids and affordable corporate rates.

Pascal’s Restaurant and Tavern, formerly St. Somewhere Restaurant & Lounge, open seven days a week, offers breakfast Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and Sunday a la carte brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Menu items include everything from Eggs Benedict to delicious Crab Frittatas.

The Tavern, complete with a 52-inch wide-screen TV for sports enjoyment, offers light fare such as soups, sandwiches, hot wings, baked oysters, crab dip or calamari as well as heartier meals like rockfish or veal stew.

Pascal’s recently acquired the talents of Chef Tony Spagnoli.  Relocating to the Eastern Shore from Washington D.C., Chef Tony has worked at such notable restaurants as Pesce, Galileo and Il Radicchio holding Executive Chef Appointments at Annapolis’s Harry Browne’s, Baltimore’s Della Notte Ristorante and Virginia’s Le Tire Bouchon. He specializes in Italian and French cooking coupled with focus on regional seafood.

Along with bringing a talented new chef on board, Pascal’s is also about to undergo remodeling in the upstairs dining room. Guest services will go uninterrupted as the hotel will utilize its atmospheric Wheel Room as well as the Tavern. Once re-opened, guests will enjoy water views including spectacular sunrises and sunsets along with the dining room’s fresh new setting.

It’s difficult to imagine not paying an arm and a leg for any of Harbour Inn’s top-notch services and accommodations, but rates are the lowest  they’ve ever been.  Keeping inline with the economic climate, Harbour Inn strives to offer affordability to private and corporate groups alike. No only can guests enjoy everything St. Michaels has to offer with complimentary van service and convenient proximity to the water taxi; thanks to recently refurbished rooms complete with wireless internet and free morning coffee, guests sacrifice nothing for their savings.
