Williams, DeMattia Join HQA Team

Queen Anne’s County native, Courtney Williams, recently joined Hospice of Queen Anne’s as the new Director of Volunteer and Professional Services. As a three-year member of HQA’s Camp New Dawn Planning Committee, Williams is quite familiar with the roles volunteers play in helping extend the hospice mission.

Prior to joining the HQA team, Williams was staffing consultant and office administrator at Express Employment in Easton. She recruited, interviewed and filled openings for client companies and was also responsible for inside sales and quality control to ensure associates met client needs.

Williams gained management experience as manager of Doc’s Riverside Grille where, in addition to daily operations, training new employees and scheduling, she assisted with the planning, advertising and marketing of special events at the establishment. She earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and holds certifications in Business Development and Inside Sales from Express University. Williams is a member of the Talbot and Queen Anne’s counties Young Professionals and serves as a member on the Board of Deacons for the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown.

Rebecca DeMattia of Chestertown joined HQA’s Support Services team earlier this year as a grief counselor. As such, she is responsible for supporting the hospice families following their loved one’s death as well as coordinating and training HQA’s grief support volunteers.

Prior to joining HQA, DeMattia was a medical social worker and the bereavement coordinator for Shore Home Care & Hospice and earlier was the family bereavement coordinator for Caroline Hospice Foundation. Following her social work field placement at Queen Anne’s Department of Social Services, DeMattia worked for Caroline County’s Family Preservation Services.

She holds a master’s degree in social work from Salisbury University and is certified in grief counseling through The American Academy of Grief Counseling.

Hospice volunteers and the community are invited to a Meet & Greet reception with Courtney Williams and Rebecca DeMattia on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Hospice of Queen Anne’s from 3-6 p.m. Call 443-262-4112 for additional information.
