The Eastern Shore Writers Association welcomes WCEI’s Drake Ferguson as the guest speaker at its April 9th meeting in Salisbury.
Widely known as “Drake Around Town,” Ferguson began his career with First Media Radio’s WCEI-FM in 2005 with the assignment to cover local human interest stories. Given free rein and a lot of curiosity, Ferguson quickly became interested in not only the interview, but the editing process as well.
He does all his own editing, but credits his field producer and wife, Elizabeth, for making sure the content is complete and compelling. Together they have produced over 400 interviews in six years.
Ferguson has also conducted interviews for Easton’s cable access station, MCTV, and recently recorded his first 30-minute long interview for the popular blog site, Indie Music Sampler.
He will address the writers group about the use of a radio interview as a powerful marketing tool to promote their books and stories. He’ll demonstrate to the audience what information to include in a brief two-minute interview and what to use in a longer version.
Sponsored by the Eastern Shore Writers Association, this program is free and open to the public, with an optional networking lunch to follow at attendee’s expense. An RSVP to President Judy Reveal at jreveal@verizon.net is appreciated.
ESWA is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization supporting writers and the literary arts across the Delmarva Peninsula. For more information visit the website www.easternshorewriters.org or contact Judy Reveal at jreveal@verizon.net.
