The Wye Conservatory of Music announces auditions for the Wye Youth Chorale, open to students in grades 4-7. Organized and led by the Conservatory’s Assistant Director, Amy Morgan, the Chorale is designed for boys and girls who like to sing, perform and enjoy pursuing music beyond what is offered at their schools. Previous musical experience is not required, but students should be open to the challenge of learning ensemble singing.
The Wye Youth Chorale’s season will begin in October and end in May 2013. Weekly rehearsals will be held at St. Luke’s Chapel in Queenstown, where the students will learn a variety of repertoire that will be performed in concerts throughout the season. The fee per member is $100.00 which may be paid in installments. The fee covers the cost of all supplies, music, and performance items. Some scholarship assistance is available.
Amy Morgan is a gifted keyboard artist and teacher with a music degree from Salisbury University. She is the Musical Director of the Wye Operetta Workshop (WOW!), and she rehearses and accompanies the Wye Choral Scholars and Wye Parish Choir.
Interviews for the Wye Youth Chorale will be held August 7-8 and 14-15 beginning at 5 pm at St. Luke’s Chapel, Main and Dudley Streets, Queenstown. Interested students and families are asked to schedule a time to meet on those days to perform a song of choice and discuss membership obligations with the Director.
