Wye Conservatory of Music

1521 (400 x 299)The Wye Conservatory of Music announces class openings for the 2013-2014 year.

The Wye Youth Chorale is a young performing ensemble open to all in grades 4-7. The ensemble meets weekly at St. Luke’s Church in Queenstown and rehearses music to be performed in programs on and off the Eastern Shore. Past performances include the Wye Parish Colonial May Fair, the Annapolis State House by Candlelight, and the Fashion for the Arts Gala in Easton. While learning a variety of repertoire, chorale members discover the process of choral singing while beginning their own training in vocal technique. No experience is necessary to be in the Wye Youth Chorale; only the desire to learn and perform. Interested young singers are to contact Director, Amy Morgan, at 410-603-8361 for more information.

Also offered from the Wye Conservatory is an Adult Music Theory Workshop. The 6 sessions will be held the evenings of August 13, 14, 15 and August 20, 21, and 22. The workshop will discuss topics in reading and writing harmony, melody, rhythm, and style. Open to all levels of musicians, the study of music theory can benefit the student and performer. The cost of the Music Theory Workshop is $115 for all classes and course materials. To register for this class, please inquire at 410-603-8361.

Other programs of the Wye Conservatory include the Wye Choral Scholars; a select group of vocalists in grades 8-12, and the Wye Operetta Workshop. It’s most recent production performed by WOW! was Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, at the Avalon Theatre during Easton’s Plein Air Festival.
