Young Artists Benefit from Mentoring Program

STArt! (Students, Teachers, Artists) was officially launched this year. Committee Chair Sharon Lipsius calls the program “Important, appreciated and very successful.” Four artists, four schools, forty students and their art instructors participated in a one-on-one mentoring program this year.

Ric Conn, Stephen Griffin, Jonathan Shaw and Rick Strittmater visited Centreville, Matapeake, Stevensville and Sudlersville middle schools respectively for a two-hour art lesson. Students created ready to hang artwork that will be on display this month. Ten students from each school will enjoy a one-week exhibit of their work and an opening reception on Friday, May 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Please join us for refreshments, meet the artists and the art instructors.

Our thanks to program sponsors Choptank Electric Trust, Love Point Deli, Queenstown Bank, Susan K. Black Foundation, The Digital Architects, The Peoples Bank and Maryland State Arts Council.
