Austen & Abbey: The Best of Britain Tea Party

IMG_3771edited (400 x 304)On Saturday, February 23 at 3:00 P.M., the Kent Island Branch of the Queen Anne’s County Free Library will be hosting a tea party in celebration of two famous British imports: Jane Austen and Downton Abbey.

Join fellow fans as we gossip over the conclusion of the third season of Downton Abbey and discuss the continuing legacy of Jane Austen’s novel Pride & Prejudice, which just recently celebrated its 200th anniversary of publication. In addition to fending off match-making mammas and sizing up the wealth of any and all eligible bachelors, tea party guests are invited to learn the popular card game “Whist”.

Costumes and hats (from both the turn of the 19th & 20th centuries) are encouraged to get everyone in the spirit of the event, but are not required.

The program is free, but RSVPs are required to attend. To reserve your spot, please call the Kent Island Library at 410-643-8161. Guests of all ages are welcome.
