CHURCH HILL THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR ITS SEPTEMBER SHOW, THE MIRACLE WORKER

imagesCHURCH HILL THEATRE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR ITS SEPTEMBER SHOW, THE MIRACLE WORKER.

Auditions for Church Hill Theatre’s September production of William Gibson’s drama,” The Miracle Worker” will be held on Saturday, June 28th from 10am-1pm, Monday, June 30th from 6-9pm, and Wednesday July 2nd from 6-9pm.

Director Michael Whitehill is seeking actors to audition for Church Hill Theatre’s production of William Gibson’s play in three acts, The Miracle Worker. We welcome actors of all ages, sizes, and levels of skill and experience. Mr. Whitehill will often cast a player with no experience if a genuine desire and the drive to learn reside there within.   The show will be performed at Church Hill Theatre opening September 12th through the 28th – Friday and Saturday nights with Sunday matinees. This play tells the story of Helen Keller’s discovery of form and language after being stricken deaf-blind at the age of only 19 months. While this touching story has been told in cinema and on stage since 1959, Mr. Whitehill believes that this story is ready to be told from Helen’s perspective, not as a “biographical sketch”, but rather as a frightening, frustrating, and courageous journey from panic chaos to reason and hope. He believes that we are all disabled, if not now, then becoming in our futures. Let’s think about it today!

We are encouraging auditions for the following roles:

A girl 6 to 10 years old (Helen Keller); a young man 17 to 22 (James Keller),

A young woman 17-22 (Annie Sullivan), a woman in early to mid 30’s (Kate)

A man in 40s (Arthur Keller), a woman in 30s or 40s (Aunt Ev)

An African American Boy aged 8-12 ((Percy), an African American girl aged 81-12 (Martha)

An African American Woman in mid 20s to mid 30s (Viney)

A man in mid 50s (Mr. Anagnos), a man in late 60’ mid 70s (Doctor)

A servant man or woman any age

If you are none of the above, please come out anyway! This show will be cast only from those with the courage and desire to show up.   Please be on time! Punctuality is the Politeness of Kings!
