Michael O’Grady, Physical Therapist, Joins Kinera Foundation

Stevensville, Maryland: June 14, 2019 – Pediatric and youth physical therapist Michael (Mike) O’Grady recently joined Kinera Foundation.

Kinera Foundation, a local nonprofit in Queen Anne’s County, offers a variety of programs, services and therapies for children and youth with disabilities and special health care needs. The Kinera Foundation office is located at 115 Sallitt Drive in Stevensville, Maryland, at the KRM/Chesapeake Bay Business Park.

Mike has been a physical therapist for over 17 years. He has broad clinical experience, mostly with the pediatric population, in a variety of outpatient rehabilitation settings, including community health care programs, homes, schools, clinics, and as a researcher at an academic institution. He earned his master’s degree in physical therapy from Columbia University in New York City. He and his family recently moved to the Annapolis area from Virginia where he was working in a pediatric outpatient clinic and providing home visits as an early intervention physical therapist. His treatment philosophy focuses on play as a means of addressing each child’s motor needs. Play is a child’s job, and play is fun. Play also encompasses the five domains of development: motor, cognitive, social-emotional, language, and self-help skills. With this approach to PT, Mike seeks to address motor deficits while leveraging other areas of relative strength and weakness to advance motor skills. Improvements in motor skills often have a close reciprocal relationship with improvements in other domains.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike to our community and the Kinera Foundation. His skills will expand our PT therapies offered at the Kinera facility and he will be an asset to the children and families we serve on the Eastern Shore,” said Kate McCloskey, executive director, Kinera Foundation.
