QA School Board To Vote on Redistricting

At its next meeting on January 5, the board of education likely will vote on a policy that spells out the process for changing school districts. At the very least, the policy will be presented for a third and final reading. Most of the comments from the public have dealt with making sure the board gives plenty of notice on redistricting-related issues. An addition to the proposed policy requires that prior to the public hearing, “the plan will be published in newspapers, placed on the Board of Education website, displayed in the schools that would be affected, and shared with the PTA organizations of the affected schools.” The proposal is available on the school district’s website, www.qacps.schoolwires.net. Comments can be sent electronically, no later than January 4 to offpubqacps.k12.md.us.
