Mitchell Reis to Succeed Baird Tipson at Washington College

The Board of Visitors and Governors of Washington College, founded in 1782 with the patronage of the nation’s first president, selected Mitchell B. Reiss, 52, to be the College’s 27th president. Reiss, who has served as a U.S. Presidential envoy, ambassador, policymaker, lawyer, author and university professor, will assume the presidency on July 1, 2010, succeeding Baird Tipson, who has led the liberal arts college since 2004. Washington College is Maryland’s first institution of higher learning and the nation’s 10th oldest.

Washington College Needs Nominees

Washington College is looking for nominees for its annual President’s Medal and the President’s Distinguished Service Awards. Nominations will be accepted thru December 2nd. Recipients will be honored at the George Washington’s Birthday convocation on February 19, 2010. Look for more information on the WC website’s President’s page.
