Zack Smith and the Dixie Power Trio Take the Stage

Picture1 (234 x 281)An intimate venue with only 132 seats, the Arts Council’s Centre for the Arts makes attending a concert feel like being in a cozy home with incredible acoustics. On Saturday, March 16, Zackary Smith and the Dixie Power Trio (DPT), an East Coast premier Louisiana music ensemble, perform at the Centre for a benefit concert. This popular group combines Dixieland, Zydeco and Jazz creating an extraordinary sound that is fun for all audiences.

The group began as a trio featuring Andy Kochenour, Zack Smith and Bert Carlson. Now billed as a “trio of four”, band members include Zack Smith; cornet, accordion, washboard, and harmonica, Andy Kochenour, tuba, Byron McWilliams; drums and Chuck Underwood; guitar.

The band recorded their first album “Out of Control” and started receiving national attention through airplay on National Public Radio. They have performed across the East Coast including the Kennedy Center in D.C. and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Illinois. The band recorded their first live CD, “Let’s All Go Down To New Orleans” and then two more recordings, “The Virgil Sessions” and “Zydeco Dog”.

The performance is at 7 p.m. at the Centre for the Arts at 206 S. Commerce Street in Centreville, Maryland. Tickets can be purchased before noon on March 15. $25 for members, $30 for non-members and for $35 at the door if seating is available . Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be an After Party following the concert to meet the band, enjoy great food and a cash bar. Please call 410.758.2520 for information.
